  1. Red Fort

 Having the covering area of 120 acres, Red Fort (also known as Lal Quila), which is situated in Old Delhi, is the most renowned monument constructed by Shahjahan, the 5th Mughal Emperor in 1639 A.D.

  •   Location : Opposite Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi.
  •   Entry Cost : Foreigners, 250 rupees. Indians, 10 rupees. Free for children under 15 years.
  •   Opening Hours : 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Mondays.

2. Jama Masjid


 Situated in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid, the construction of which was completed in 1650 A.D. in a long period of 13 years by Shahjahan, the 5th Mughal Emperor, is the largest mosque in India. The courtyard of this mosque has the space for 25,000 devotees for offering prayer. 


  •   Location : Opposite Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi. Near the Red Fort.
  •   Entry Cost : Free, but a camera fee of 300 rupees applies.
  •   Opening Hours : Daily, except when prayers are being held from 12.15 p.m. to 1.45 p.m. It closes just before sunset.

3. Chandni Chowk


Chandni Chowk, which is the main thoroughfare of Old Delhi, has the oldest & busiest markets of India. Here you can purchase expensive jewelry, fabrics, electronic items, sarees, etc. & take a unique glimpse of wearing of India.


 Location : Old Delhi, near the Red Fort and Jama Masjid.

4. Swaminarayan Akshardham


Swaminarayan Akshardham, which was constructed by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Spiritual Organization and opened in 2005, is a new attractive temple complex showcasing the culture of India, situated in Delhi. The complex, which has sprawling garden, sculptures, & provides the chance to enjoy boat ride for visitors, of this temple has the amazing architecture of the pink stone & white marble.

  •  Entry Cost : Free. However, Tickets are required to view the exhibitions.

5. Humayun's Tomb

Set amongst beautiful gardens & looking like the Taj Mahal, situated in Agra, Humayun’s Tomb, which was built in 1570 A.D., is situated in Delhi. This tomb, which has the dead body of Humayun, the 2nd Mughal Emperor, gave inspiration to the construction of the Taj.


  •   Location : Nizamuddin East, New Delhi. Near the Nizamuddin train station, off Mathura Road.
  • Entry Cost : Foreigners, 250 rupees. Indians, 10 rupees. Free for children under 15 years.
  • Opening Hours : Sunrise until sunset, daily. It's best viewed in the golden light of the late afternoon.

6. Lodi Gardens

  Constructed by the British in 1936 A.D. in Delhi around the graves of the rulers of the 15th & 16th century, e.g. Humayun’s Tomb, ‘Lodhi Gardens’ is the tremendous gardens, which provide enjoyment to yoga practitioners, joggers and young couples.


 
  •  Location : Lodi Road, not far from Humayun's Tomb.
  • Entry Cost : Free. 
  • Opening Hours : Daily from sunrise until 8 p.m., but Sundays are particularly busy.

7. Qutab Minar

Qutb (also spelled as Qutub or Qutab) Minar, which is the tallest brick minaret in the world, is situated in Mehrauli, in the southern part of Delhi, the national capital city of India. The construction of it was begun in 1193 & was completed in 1368.

8. Gandhi Smriti

Gandhi Smriti, which is situated on 5 Tees January Marg, in Delhi, is the spot where Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Father of Nation’, was murdered on the 30th of January, 1948 A.D. People can visit the sleeping room & the prayer ground for Gandhiji everyday excluding Monday.

9. India Gate

Situated at Rajpath near Connaught Place in New Delhi, the war memorial ‘India Gate’ is the towering archway, which was built in memory of the Indian soldiers sacrificed for the British Army in World War I. At night, the sight of it looks very charming.
